SELF-DEFENSE CLASSES IN BRENHAM, TX

Practice what to do when someone grabs, pushes or takes you down, every week, with a partner at your level.

Self-defense classes for kids and adults in Brenham, built on Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. No punching, no kicking, no ego. Your first class is free.

01 · HOW IT WORKS

REAL CONFRONTATIONS START STANDING.

A real confrontation usually starts standing, with a grab, a push or someone getting too close. It can end up on the ground. A one-time seminar can show you a move for each of those moments. It can't make the move yours.

Jud Jitsu teaches self-defense as two arts that fit together. Judo covers the standing half: balance, breaking grips and falling safely if you get knocked down. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu covers the ground: getting out from under someone, controlling them and getting back to your feet.

Both work through leverage and position rather than size. And because there are no strikes, you can practice them with a real, resisting partner as you progress. That's how a technique moves from something you remember to something you can do.

02 · WHAT YOU PRACTICE

WHAT YOU'LL PRACTICE.

Every skill is drilled slow first, then with more resistance as you're ready.

  • 01

    Breaking a grab

Wrist, sleeve and collar grabs, and how to break free and make distance.

  • 02

    Staying on your feet

Posture and balance, so a push or a pull doesn't put you on the ground.

  • 03

    Falling safely

If you do go down, a good breakfall is built to protect your head and back.

  • 04

    Getting up off the ground

How to stand back up when someone is standing over you.

  • 05

    Escaping when pinned

Bridges and hip escapes that get someone heavier off you, using leverage, not strength.

  • 06

    Staying calm

Breathing and thinking under pressure, practiced every class. Calm is a skill, and it can be trained.

04 · WHY GRAPPLING

WHY GRAPPLING FOR SELF-DEFENSE.

  1. 01

    Leverage, not size.

Position and leverage are what make these techniques work, which is why smaller people train them.

  2. 02

    Practiced, not memorized.

Weekly classes build habits a one-time seminar can't.

  3. 03

    No strikes.

Nobody gets punched in the face to learn self-defense here.

  4. 04

    Kids and adults.

Families can learn the same skills on the same nights.

05 · QUESTIONS

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Is this a one-time self-defense seminar?

No. These are regular classes, so the skills get practiced week after week, which is how they stick.

Is Judo and Jiu-Jitsu good self-defense for women?

Grappling relies on leverage and position rather than size and strength, which is a big reason so many women train it. Adult classes start beginner-first, with a partner at your level.

Do I need to be in shape?

No. Everyone is out of shape on day one. You won't be asked to keep up with anyone. You'll be asked to show up twice a week.

Will I have to spar?

Not on day one, and never before you're ready. Your first classes are drilling: slow, in steps, with a partner at your level.

Do you teach kids self-defense and anti-bullying skills?

Kids practice breaking grabs, falling safely, staying calm and walking away. There's no punching or kicking, and the goal is never a fight. See the kids program.

How much do self-defense classes cost?

Your first class is free, with no card and no contract to walk in. Founding-member pricing goes to the founding list before anyone else, so claim your free class to hear it first.
